Marske Community Church

We are a Bible–centred church in Marske, seeking to worship God together at an hour-long service starting at 4.30pm on a Sunday afternoon and then again midweek for Prayer and Bible study.

Our first meeting was at Marske Cricket Club in August 2020, followed by services at the Marske Leisure Centre, and now at Marske Methodist Church.

We come from a wide variety of backgrounds, joined together by our faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and our desire to reach out to meet the needs of the community in Marske and Redcar.

Hi! I’m very happy to be part of this friendly Church here in Marske. We believe God has great things in store for us!

I’m mum to three boys, and am blessed with 6 grandchildren. I’m married to Geoff and we live in Marske … I love Marske! I’m originally from Bootle in Liverpool – but please don’t hold that against me! I’ve lived here in the North East for over 30 years so definitely call this my home now.

I’m CEO and founder member of Footprints in the Community – a charity based in Redcar – who exist to help reduce poverty and isolation. We run a number of projects including Redcar Area Foodbank, Next Step Shops, The Shed …. to name but a few. I have a real heart for our community and believe God created me to love and support others. I'm honoured to have been named in the Kings Birthday Honours and be awarded an MBE.

Brian Settle

Hello! I have been married to Ann for nearly half of my life, I also became a follower of Jesus in that time. We retired to live in Marske in 2020 and have become part of this fellowship at Marske Community Church since then. I feel honoured to be chosen as a trustee and treasurer.

My life before retirement is like a game of two halves. In the first half and without God, I worked in garages, factories, a safari park and casinos at home and abroad. The second half since I met Jesus and Ann I have worked in care homes, child protection teams and then for 20 years as a foster carer with Cornerstone – a Christian fostering and adoption agency.

When I can, I play golf. Despite my love of numbers, I can best describe myself as a people person who loves to see anyone connect with God.

Melissa Walton

Hello! I am currently studying for a degree in Theology, Mission and Ministry at Cranmer Hall, Durham, but I live in Redcar. I have previously been on the leadership of a small evangelical church in Oxford, where I also ran my own Driving School. I have spent much of my life working with children and young people but my passion is really for teaching all ages.

I put my faith in Jesus Christ at 16 years old and have faithfully served in the church, in various ways, since then. I love hearing God speak and I appreciate all my Christian brothers and sisters who help me as I seek to be obedient to Christ. I believe working with other churches and denominations is a really valuable experience. I have recently self-published a series of devotions (The Way of the Heart, Pilgrims Together) on the need to build open, trusting relationships with God and each other. I believe this is what it means to be church.

I am a trustee of the charity Destined To Win and have been a member of Girlguiding since I was about 6 years old. I love crafts such as cross-stitch, and enjoy ballroom dancing and swimming.
